Jennifer Hudson fires back at American Idol after Simon Cowell called her out on not thanking Idol at the Oscars. Simon said something about how Idol alums view this show as a stepping stone, when really it is the only reason any of them have a career,and while I do agree to some (very small) extent, Simon is way out of line. Jennifer thinks so too, she fired back at Simon by saying, "If I'd been any better at my job when I was at Burger King in my middle teens, I wouldn't be here either, so should I thank them, too?"
I'm glad that Jennifer said something in response to Simon's ridiculous quote...I'm pretty sure I said all of this back when we went through the same mess with Kelly Clarkson not thanking Idol at the Grammy's but I'll say it again...American Idol is not the only reason tha these people are succesful. If they had not been on Idol, they wouldn't have the same success they have today but American Idol is not a free ticket to fame, you have to work really hard after Idol to make yourself successful.
Jennifer Hudson did not walk into audition to Dreamgirls, only to have them say "You dont need to audition, you were on American Idol, we will give you the part." She had to go through the same process as everybody else and she got the job because she is extremely talented.
For Simon to think that American Idol is what is making these people succesful is extremely arrogant and small minded of him. At least Jennifer got something out of all of this. In response to her comment, Burger King said thanks but no thanks is neccesary, and offered J-Hud free Burger King for life.
I am glad that Jennifer Hudson stood up for herself and pointed out how completely ridiculous it if for everybody who has ever been on Idol to thank them for the rest of their lives!
