Kellie Pickler's album, Small Town Girl, comes out this Tuesday and I must admit, it is actually pretty good. When Kellie was on American Idol, I hated her...I could not stand her, and I never thought that would change. Then I saw her on tour this summer and she wasn't nearly as bad as I though she would be, plus she waved and winked to me, which was pretty cool, so I actually started to like her a little.
When I listened to her album this weekend I actually really liked it. I still don't think her voice is all that great, but it is a very decent country album. There are moments when her voice gets really annoying, but for the most part is something I can listen to without cringing.
There are several really good songs...my favorites include "I Wonder," "Didn't You See How Much I Loved You," and "Gotta Keep Moving." Kellie wrote on a couple of songs on the album, which is pretty cool...one of them, "I Wonder," is really good. It's about her mom leaving her and I really really like it! There's a couple of good ballads, but I think the album's strength is more in the upbeat numbers...they are a lot of fun and very catchy!!
Overall it is a fun album...it isn't spectacular and it isn't going to win any awards but it is great effort, and a lot better than I expected it to be. Kellie Pickler's "Small Town Girl" will be in stores this Tuesday, and I definitely recommend checking it out!
