Kelly Clarkson won the ASCAP award for Song of the Year last night for the song "Because Of You." It was actually a tie between "Because of You," and Mary J Bliges' "Without You," so they both walked away with an award.
The ASCAP awards are for the writers of the song, so it is great to see Kelly getting recognition for her amazing work with not only "Because Of You," but also all of the other songs she has written. "Because of You" means a lot to Kelly...it was a song she wrote when she was 16 years old and is a very personal song, and I'm sure winning for this song is even more special for her. "Because Of You" is by far my favorite Kelly song, so I am glad that they honored her for that...
Congratulations to Kelly Clarkson for winning this award, and since she wrote the majority of, if not all of, her next album, I predict she will win more of these in the future!
