Katharine McPhee was on the today show today. She sang a song off of her new debut record called Over It. She had a quick interview with Matt before the song. She looked great. I didn't think the song was all that great. If that's the hit from the record, I doubt I would buy it.
It was funny during the interview Matt asked her about blogging. Katharine said she likes to blog to keep her fans informed. Maybe we could get Katharine McPhee as a guest writer for this blog?
This week during the Memphis auditions I found Melinda Doolittle, the backup singer, to be very interesting. She had an extremely powerful voice but is incredibly, unbelievably docile. I am curious to see if she can overcome this because her voice certainly deserves to be heard. read more »
Carrie Underwood was added as a performer for the Grammy Awards. She is also nominated for a few awards for the show! Congratulations to Carrie!! I'm sure she is beyond ecstatic, as performing on the Grammy's is every singers dream!
Be sure to watch the Grammy's on February 11th, to watch Carrie Underwood sing and see if she wins any of her awards!!
Congratulations to Jennifer Hudson, who won a Golden Globe last night for her role in the movie Dreamgirls. Jennifer won the award for best supporting actress in a musical or comedy. The movie Dreamgirls also won the best musical or comedy award, and the award for best supporting actor.
I haven't gotten a chance to see Dreamgirls yeat, but I am incredibly happy that Jennifer Hudson won the Golden Globe and for all the success she has had after Idol!
Paula Abdul will star in her own Reality Show on Bravo. The show is still unnamed, but will focus on Paula's work as well as her private life. I think this is hilarious because I have no idea who would actually want to watch Paula's private life, or work for that matter. I get enough of her crazy antics on Idol, but I suppose it will be interesting to see how this works out!
If I find out any more information about Paula Abdul's upcoming reality show I will be sure to post!
Joining a pretty long list of other Idols from season 5, Bucky Covington recently signed a record deal! Bucky signed a deal with Nashville's Lyric Street Records and is currently recording a CD scheduled to be out on April 17th. read more »
Here is the actual schedule for American Idol 6. We now have a full month of auditions which is way beyond ridiculous if you ask me, and only two Hollywood episodes, which really upsets me because that is my favorite part of the audition process! Anyway, here is the schedule: read more »
The top 40 contestants of American Idol 6 were chosen last December, and yesterday they were narrowed down to 12 girls and 12 boys. While there is no word on the top 24 quite yet, I did find some names of people rumored to have made the top 40. Here are the names of 9 people who just might be the next American Idol, as well as links to their official websites, or myspace pages: read more »
Katharine McPhee will be a guest star on the Hit show Ugly Betty. She will be playing herself on February 1st! On the show, she will be a celebrity guest at a runway show.
Several of Katharine McPhee's songs from her new album are up on AOL. The first one, "Over It", will be her first single. This is probably my favorite of the songs that are up on the site, but I don't think it's that great. It sounds a lot like everything else on radio these days, which I suppose could work for or against it. read more »
This has been a great year for Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and both earned several spots on the year-end billboard charts. Kelly earned 19 different titles, including #14 on the Top Artist Chart, #4 on the Females Chart, #10 on the albums chart, #3 on the Adult Top 40 Artist chart and #4 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Songs Chart. read more »
This weeks issue of US Weekly features quite a few of the Idols, so I thought I would post in case anybody was interested in picking it up. It has Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Jennifer Hudson on the cover, with something about Idol weight loss secrets, and there is a couple of pages on Idol's losing weights and how they did it, but the majority of the article focuses on contestants themselves. read more »
Here is the order that the Auditions will air for American Idol season 6:
I'm not exactly sure where this information came from, so I don't know how accurate it is, but I figured I would post it anyway! read more »
The American Idol franchise is valued at over $2.5 Billion! From advertising money alone American Idol bring in $500 Million a year, and when you add concert sales, CDs you will find that the $2.5 Billion is a pretty conservative estimate! read more »
Mario Vazquez appeared on the Megan Mullally show. He sang his new hit song Gallery from his first self-titled CD. He had some cheesy dancers, who framed their faces every time he said the word "gallery" which seemed kinda lame to me. Mario didn't get any time do an interview with Megan. It was overall a pretty entertaining performance. He's come a long way since American Idol.
